My husband and I spent four days here and had an amazing time. The staff were all professional and friendly, and made us feel at home. The service was great, and the conversations were even better. Breakfast was delicious. We’re definitely coming back and highly recommend this hotel.

The receptionist was the saving grace. She did everything she could to make our stay comfortable. It’s a shame, because this is a beautiful old property, but Casa Dulce Maria has clearly fallen into disrepair. The hotel feels tired and poorly maintained. The rooms are careworn, with badly patched paint and bare bulbs, and the Wi-Fi is slow and unreliable. The elevator keeps trapping people. If the rest of the place looked like the lobby, it would be a great hotel.

The courtyard was lovely, but I won’t be back. Our room didn’t feel like a four-star experience to me, more like a two- or three-star hotel. It was small, and there was no counter space by the bathroom sink, so I kept knocking my products down while washing my face. There was also a high opening in the bathroom wall that connected to the next room. We could hear the neighbors using the bathroom and disciplining their child, so the room didn’t feel fully private.

The staff were wonderful and kept us safe and secure, calm, and well organized during a really uncertain time. We got stuck here for two extra days on our way to Puerto Vallarta, in lockdown because of cartel violence in Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta. I can’t say enough about how good this hotel was. 10/10, and I’d stay here again and again.
