Amigos Hotelito

We loved waking up with coffee on the dock and watching the sunrise. The dock is especially well set up, with four loungers, a roof, a hammock, and other places to sit. After kayaking nearly the whole laguna, we thought this property had the best dock. It’s also well placed for visiting the spots they recommend on the water. Two kayak outings let us see everything on the lake, so we didn’t need to rent a boat. The kayaks are free. There seem to be only six rooms, which made the place very quiet. Often it felt like we had our own waterfront cottage. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We stayed four nights at Amigos Hotelito and would definitely come back. It’s a paradise location, about a 15-minute walk from town along a wide, quiet road where we never felt unsafe. Bacalar is a magical little town, and the laguna was even nicer than I expected. It’s very underrated, and you should definitely go.

The hotel is right on the lagoon and has well-kept grounds, parking inside the property, and kayaks with life jackets for guests. Our room was comfortable, with a balcony and fridge. Breakfast had a wide range, and the service was easy to praise, everyone was so helpful and kind. It’s about a 20-minute walk to town. Google gives it one star, but I’d put it more around 3.5 to 4.

I had a delightful stay at Amigos Hotelito. The room was comfortable and clean, though a few small details need fixing. Horacio and the whole team were accommodating and professional. It’s right in front of Laguna, in an area that felt very safe even at night.

Our upstairs room had a wonderful lake view, a fantastic bed, and a great shower. A few of the fittings were a little worn, but we enjoyed our stay at Amigos. The location is the main draw: lovely and quiet, right by the water, and close to town. The host was very helpful with tips and bookings. Breakfast is available, though we thought it was pricey.
