Azulea Bacalar Hotel & Spa - Lagoon Front

Great access to the lagoon, with kayaks and paddleboards available free of charge. The people were nice too. The king room is comfortable and feels luxurious, though room 103 had a bed that was much smaller than a queen, despite what the reservation said, and it really wasn't good.

Our room was bright, spotless and had a whole wall of windows. We loved it, and everyone we met was so kind and helpful. It's a beautiful little oasis, and we'd happily stay again.

We liked having the hotel's own dock, with kayaks and paddleboards included in the stay. It meant we could explore the lagoon whenever we wanted. The staff were friendly, helpful and spoke English well. Lunch and dinner were very good, though the menu choices were limited. Our two-person room had a very comfortable king bed and plenty of space, with the basic amenities we needed. A few more racks for drying wet towels would help. Only two small bottles of water were included, and extra bottles cost more, which felt unreasonable for a five-star hotel charging over €200 per night. Breakfast was included and filling: mixed fruit, two slices of toast and eggs with ham, onions and other ingredients, prepared as an omelet, fried or scrambled. There were other choices, but they cost extra à la carte. I would have liked more variety in the included breakfast, which is what I expect at a five-star hotel.

We were impressed by the views from our room, and everything was as we expected. It's a gorgeous little hotel, and its small size makes the stay feel very private.
