Hotel Boutique Casa Piedad

The little pool was perfect for cooling off in the morning or after a hot day out. It’s an authentic-feeling hotel, and the kitchen is well equipped and really nicely decorated. The hostess was quick to reply whenever we needed her, and the service was great. It’s easy to walk to the promenade for Campeche’s sunsets, and the city center is also a comfortable walk away. We felt quite safe in the neighborhood. All in all, 5/5.

The room was so cramped that my partner and I could barely fit in with our luggage. It might have worked for one person, but not a couple, even on St. Valentines Day. We were put in the junior suite, listed as 20 sq. m., though it was under 14 m sq. It seemed like an old backyard shed that had been converted, and the bed was uncomfortable. The website photos make the hotel look beautiful, and the location was clean. Still, once we arrived, we should have booked somewhere else instead of giving it a try. There was coffee in the morning but no breakfast, and no one suggested where to get any. We left the next day for another local hotel. There’s not much boutique about this place.

The communal kitchen, where you can cook, use the fridge, and make coffee, made the stay more comfortable. It’s a pretty, cozy little inn with a nice pool. The shower was cold, but it was hot outside, so that wasn’t much of an issue.

The room looked nicely equipped, but wasn’t practical. The bed was awful, there was only cold water both afternoon and morning, and the wooden door let in every sound. It felt as though people were walking and talking right at the end of the bed, so sleeping was impossible. Then the housekeeper or guard started walking around in heavy boots at about 6 in the morning and woke us again. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the center, which is convenient, but the streets are quite dark on the walk back at night.
