Casa Tortugas Boutique Hotel, A Hidden Gem in Cancun

We chose this smaller hotel instead of the huge resorts in the hotel zone and were glad we did. Our trip to Isla Mujeres was easy because Casa Tortugas is across the fast-moving road from the ferry. The hotel faces west across the bay, and the rooftop terrace makes the most of the sunset views. We really enjoyed breakfast and cocktail hour up there.

We really enjoyed our stay, especially the family and staff’s warm hospitality. They’re kind and want you to feel at home and relax. This family-owned boutique hotel is beautifully arranged, with artwork and lovely architectural details. The rooms are spacious, with generous living areas, and there’s a pool to sit beside or a rooftop where you can have a drink and take in the breathtaking views. It’s a good place to enjoy Cancun without the busy hotel zone feel. Buses nearby go downtown, to shopping malls, and to some beautiful beaches with aquamarine water and coral sands. Casa Totugas is in a good location, and I’d highly recommend it.

The pool was great, and the views from the rooftop were spectacular in both the morning and evening. The beaches are reachable across the street. The hotel is on the lagoon side, where there are crocodiles, though we didn’t see any during our stay. A group of restaurants is about 25-30 minutes away on foot, or three minutes by Uber. The place was clean, spacious, and quiet, with interesting architecture that felt almost Gaudiesque. The staff were wonderful, helpful and discreet, and knew the surroundings well.

A safe and lovely place for couples, with really nice staff. The room was spacious and comfortable, and had everything listed, including drinking water, cooking pans, a kettle, and a coffee machine. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool and taking in the view. They also provide towels, which was a nice touch, and there’s a rooftop bar to use in the morning or evening.
