Our club suite was huge and very quiet, with a large patio and sliding doors and windows that opened. The water pressure was phenomenal. It was a bit dated, but clean and had everything we needed, including a kitchen. The jetted tub on the patio didn’t have hot water, which was disappointing. We didn’t mention it to the staff, though, so I guess that’s on us. The beach at the south end of Cancun was quiet, just what we wanted. Henrri seemed to work everywhere and always remembered us and looked after us. The food and drinks were good, and there’s a little market for beer, snacks, water, and other necessities, though prices were a bit high. A heads up, the bars close at 6 pm, and they’ll try to sell you a timeshare while you’re just trying to check in and get a drink. We really enjoyed our stay and would go back.

The pool was lovely, and the staff and maid were very kind. Our room had a comfortable bed, good pillows, and a kitchen stocked with appliances. The shower was small and dark, but the hot water was good and they supplied shower gel and shampoo. Don’t count on coffee or other amenities, and the food is very expensive. The view was awful: the room faced the street, and we couldn’t open the heavy doors because of the lack of privacy, heat, and noise. There was no balcony. The air conditioner kept blowing humid air until everything in the room, even the paper, was wet, and the sheets felt damp. We couldn’t make it cooler because the controls were locked, and even the maintenance man couldn’t change them. It was often warm and very humid in the room. Free laundry is available, but you have to bring your own detergent. My husband and I don’t think we’d stay here again.

The bus stop right outside made it easy to get around from this resort at the far end of the Hotel Zone. For $1 USD each way, the ride to the main strip took about 20-30 minutes. We had a very spacious, clean two-bedroom suite during New Year’s week, with room for six, a pull-out sofa already made up, and a fully equipped kitchen. Housekeeping did an excellent job, and the beach was well maintained. Even in a busy holiday week, we always found lounge chairs. The staff were kind and pleasant throughout. The property is aging, though: we had a leaking sink faucet and a showerhead that didn’t work well, saw rust on the exterior railing, and found ants around the sink and dining area. Those seemed like maintenance problems rather than cleanliness issues. We didn’t try the restaurants. The biggest drawback was being charged around $400 CAD in local taxes at check-in. That felt extremely high for a week, and nobody had clearly told us about it in advance. The resort needs updates, and the surprise tax was a major downside.

The building is older, but so clean that you can smell it as soon as you walk in. Our freezer wasn’t working properly, and the Häagen-Dazs Macadamia Nut Brittle we’d been looking forward to, which isn’t sold in Washington state anymore, melted into a milkshake. My husband called the front desk and within 10 minutes they’d brought in a new fridge. The maintenance man even moved our groceries over. The bed and pillows were top notch, and I slept so well. Everyone on staff was friendly and accommodating. We travel a lot, and this is my first hotel review, but I was impressed enough to give them a shout out. It was our first time at Club Ragina, but it won’t be our last. I recommend it. GO SEAHAWKS!! Super bowl 60 champs.

I’ve been coming to this resort for decades, but weekend guests are becoming a problem. Day passes bring in so many local children that the resort gets overwhelmed. They run around, leave garbage everywhere, and pour drinks into the pool. It’s a shame for anyone hoping for a relaxing vacation, and because of this I’ll reconsider staying here.
