Hotel Blue Star Cancun

The staff were welcoming, and we liked the continental breakfast. The room was clean, but the website gave a misleading impression. Rooms are tiny, with nowhere to sit except the bed, and there are no bathroom hooks or bars for wet towels. The toilet seat was so loose that we tightened it ourselves. Getting online was odd: the hostess entered the Wi-Fi password on our phone instead of telling us, so we couldn't connect our other devices. The restaurant staff were pleasant. The pool looks worn, there was no rooftop area set up, and the hot tub was a two-person inflatable one. We bought our own beer and snacks since there was no sign of a bar. We managed for our two nights, but I wouldn't suggest a longer stay.

We spent 9 days here and had a great time. The outside looks a little out of place, but the inside is lovely, with beautiful architecture. The pool was warm and big enough for a few families, and everyone on staff was pleasant. Our room was great too, with comfy beds, strong AC, and a bathroom that was unusual but lovely. The fridge barely kept things cool, so you'll want a cooler and ice from downstairs or across the street. People in the neighborhood were friendly, and we felt safe walking around. I had children aged 3 and 8 with me. They don't usually allow kids under 10, but they made an exception for us, which I really appreciated.

The staff are super nice, and the room feels like a good deal for the price. We got a king room with a jacuzzi tub facing a small private patio with chairs, and we're pretty happy with it. It's quiet inside, although traffic noise comes through into the room. The hotel zone is about a 30-minute drive away, and food and drink choices here are very limited.

The staff were the best part, especially the kitchen team. Everyone was so kind and helpful, and they made me feel very welcome. It was also handy to have reception open 24 hours, and they really tried to help in any way they could. The room had some problems: the bathroom wasn't separate, so there was little privacy, and the toilet was in the room behind only a small door. One window wouldn't close properly, leaving a small gap. The jacuzzi didn't work right, and the bed wasn't completely clean. A small wastebasket and a toilet brush were missing too.
