Hotel DNA Cancun

We paid $1625 per night, and they offered to lower it to $1300 per night if we stayed three nights. It was still incredibly expensive for such a deplorable place. We stayed just one night and asked for a refund for the other two. We should have looked at the room before paying. The room was supposed to have two double beds, but one was on a single-sized base, leaving part of the mattress hanging over. The two beds took up nearly all the space. It smelled awful, the bathroom reeked of mildew, and there wasn’t even a plastic shower curtain. The lighting was so dim that the few lamps barely helped. They did, however, give us a sheet listing extra charges if we damaged furniture. We could hear everything from the adjoining rooms. People partied in the early hours, and reception did nothing to call their attention to it. Horrible. If I could give zero stars, I would.

We’d booked one night through booking.com and had already paid, with proof of payment. But there was nobody at reception when we arrived to check in. After we rang several times, a drunk man appeared. He spoke no English, but managed to call the receptionist, who said she had no booking for us. Despite our proof of payment, she sent us back to the drunk man, who then kicked us out onto the street. Absolutely disgraceful, and not recommended at all.

The hotel is clean, the price is quite affordable, and the beds are comfortable. The rooms have a microwave, mini fridge, and air conditioning. Emme, the staff member who helped me, was very kind and lovely. It’s outside the hotel zone, but buses to and from the hotel zone stop right in front of the hotel, with short waits between them.

The rooms were disgusting, and so were the people running the place. It’s hidden away in the worst part of Cancun. Don’t let the photos fool you. Run away from there!
