We enjoyed the pools and beach, though there was quite a bit of sargassum in the ocean. The grounds and bedrooms were in stunningly clean condition, and the cleaners, servers, cooks, and chefs were all amazing. We also liked the food. The main buffet was simple but delicious, much like other Riu buffets, although it got very busy and people seemed stressed trying to get food. Waiting for tables at the reservation restaurants was frustrating too, with some confusion over whether reservations were needed. The hotel is a little far from the city center, but it works well if you’re mostly staying on the property. The path between riu dunamar and riu palace was great for evening walks, and the waterpark was very good. Special thanks to chef William, who helped me with my food restrictions every morning, Pedro, our bedroom cleaner, for his exceptional service, and Julio, the drinks server at the beach. I’m lowering my rating because partway through our seven night stay, my wife and I likely caught a stomach bug. It caused us a lot of stomach pain and abdominal discomfort that was still lingering a few days after we got back. I’ve seen other people report similar experiences.

The grounds are beautifully kept, the resort is spotless, and our room was lovely with a stocked fridge and mini bar. There are enough pools that they never felt crowded, and the beach is great for long walks. We weren’t hassled by vendors there, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Pepe’s food by the pool was awesome, and they even went out of their way to find us a veggie burger.

The gardens were peaceful and so well kept, and we loved the pools and beach, with plenty of room to relax. The Italian restaurant was our favorite, and the food overall was really good. Every night had something fun to see thanks to the entertainment crew. The White Party was the highlight for us, such a memorable night. We stayed at Riu Palace Costa Mujeres for seven nights, May 9th-16th, and had a relaxing, wonderful vacation. The whole property was sparkling clean, clearly thanks to the hard work the staff put in every day, and everyone we met was friendly and helpful. We had a very pleasant stay and will definitely be back. Thank you, Riu Palace Costa Mujeres!

We’ve stayed here three times, especially around the Superbowl, and love the fun atmosphere they create for watching and celebrating the game. The resort feels party focused but still relaxing and family friendly, and the beach is my favorite in all of Mexico, a 10/10 for me. Our favorite part of the day was walking there with coffee each morning. Cris, who waited on us at the beach, remembered our drinks and brought some tasty recommendations. The buffet wait staff were always attentive, our modern rooms were clean, and the beach and chairs were well cared for with enough seating for everyone. There were fun activities by the pool and beach every day. Food was good, though I thought the buffet was much better than the a la carte places. Krystal and Japan were both excellent and worth checking out. We’d come back for a fourth stay. It’s good value.

We really liked the resort and would gladly return. The rooms were close to everything, and we rarely had to wait for the elevator. The gym was decent and had what you’d need. The entertainment was pretty good, with a Cirque du Soleil type show and a Michael Jackson night. The White Party next door at Riu Dunamar had a great vibe. My favorite was the piano player in the lounge bar, every night except Sundays from 6:30pm to 8pm. The room echoes, so it’s hard to hear unless you’re near the piano. Try to arrive around 6:15-6:20 for a nearby table. We had a clean, spacious fourth floor room with a king bed and partial ocean view. There was room for luggage, a safe, a minibar with four liquor choices, and a mini fridge stocked with water, pop, and Dos Equis beer. Cleaning staff usually came twice a day unless we asked them not to. A couple of times we had to request more bottled water through the app because the drinks person didn’t come. The buffet was fantastic, with something for everyone. We also loved the Italian, Goumet, and Japanese restaurants. We missed the steakhouse because of the reservation lineup. The Mexican restaurant seemed good, but service was so slow we had to leave before our entrees arrived. There are five pools, two adults only, including one reserved for Elite Club members. They were clean and not too crowded, and both adults only pools have swim up bars. Poolside bar service was good. Getting a lounger was very difficult unless you reserved one with your towel early each morning. Groups will need to get out early to reserve chairs together, though there was always space at the Elite Club pool. We didn’t spend much time at the beach because it was windy. There isn’t much space, and the loungers seemed crowded together, but the sand was nice to walk on. We didn’t try the Elite Club, but might next time. It includes a private adults pool with a swim up bar and loungers that are easy to get, plus an exclusive restaurant whose menu looked good. Members can book restaurants ahead, while regular guests have to go at 6pm each night to try for a reservation, which can be a gamble.
