The food was average at best, though there was a good choice of drinks, and restaurant service was mixed. Nelson stood out for his humor and willingness to help. Isabella at the concierge desk was also very helpful with arranging our room changes and even organized a small anniversary gift. We had a rocky start when our suite was below construction work, but they moved us to one in building 2. That room had a lovely large balcony overlooking the sea. Melia is a solid four-star property.

We chose the “Extreme ATV” excursion from the vendor operating in the lobby at Meliá Casa Maya Cancún, and assumed that being offered on the hotel premises meant it met reasonable safety and operating standards. That trust now feels misplaced. The ATVs looked worn and poorly maintained. The steering was loose, the tires were worn, and during the ride one participant lost control and went into the trees. Exhaust fumes also made riders ill. What we experienced was nothing like the marketing used to sell the excursion. Because a hotel gives an on-site vendor credibility, guest safety is a shared responsibility. Please review this relationship promptly to help prevent a serious injury. We respectfully request a written reply explaining what action will be taken.

The rooms are really spacious and gorgeous, and housekeeping does a great job. We also loved the location, the lovely beach where you can swim, and the large pool if you'd rather stay out of the sea. Service was warm and hospitable, and the à la carte restaurants were very good. A couple of things to know: the resort is very geared toward families, especially those with young children, so it may not suit you if you want quiet. My husband and I don't mind the kids, but others might. The buffet felt small and had fewer choices than at other resorts I've visited. Breakfast was really good, lunch less so, and dinner could use improvement. We're here right now and really love the hotel. I'd recommend it.

The grounds were well cared for, the rooms clean and comfortable, and the beach was lovely and beautifully kept. Rodivera (Rod) was attentive on the beach, and Alfredo would bring our drinks as soon as he spotted us. Those little touches made it easy to relax. David, the room controller, was extremely helpful and went well beyond what he needed to do, and Reye, the Level manager, was always attentive. Thank you all. Our son was thrilled with the kids’ club and couldn't wait to go each day. It let us relax knowing he was happy and looked after. Josselin, who he still talks about every day since we left, deserves a special mention, along with Merly, Bernice and Juan the entertainment manager. There was plenty we liked at the buffet throughout the day. Breakfast at Cape Nao as a Level guest was especially pleasant: a calm, welcoming setting, nice food and a good selection. Leonor, Jorge, Armando and Kristel were friendly and attentive, always checking if we had what we needed. Most of the staff couldn't do enough for us, but our first check-in encounter with Yerradi was rude and disinterested. We arrived near the end of her shift, and she made it clear she wanted to leave before finishing with us. We gave her the benefit of the doubt, but during our month-long stay she repeatedly ignored us whenever we encountered her at The Level. That's not good for someone working at The Level front desk. We occasionally had to wait longer than expected for a high chair at the buffet, which was tricky with a little one. Hopefully that can be improved. Still, as platinum Melia members and frequent travellers, we had a lovely stay overall and would happily return. Thanks to the team for making it special for our family.
