There’s parking and hot water, with plenty of shops nearby, though traffic can get heavy. The internet was slow and unreliable, and I saw a cockroach on the staircase. I also kept hearing thumps from staff or guests. I changed my rating from three stars to one after they refused a refund, following a staff member repeatedly harassing me with loud screeching sounds and thumps.

For the price, this is very good value and a fine place to spend a couple of days. Our room was clean and comfortable, though there’s no fridge. In the first room, water started leaking from the toilet, but they moved us to another room without any trouble.

I travelled from Scotland to Cancun and had booked Hotel suites Gaby in advance. I arrived on April 28, tired from the journey, soaked by the rain, and with wet bags and clothes. I just wanted to rest. Instead, the receptionist on duty around 4 p.m. was extremely rude. I handed over my ID for copying and offered to pay for breakfast along with the room, since my booking app said breakfast was available and payable at the property. She insulted me, saying she wasn’t in charge of breakfast and that I should cancel and book a breakfast option if I wanted it. I politely asked her to read what the app said and whether she understood “BREAKFAST OPTION AVAILABLE, PAY AT THE PROPERTY.” She immediately flared up, asked why I was questioning her, returned both my original ID and its photocopy, and told me to leave because I was supposedly rude to her. I’ve stayed at more than 150 places worldwide and have never seen a receptionist who wasn’t the owner sit comfortably without standing to help an international customer, then rudely tell them to book somewhere else. I could understand that at a five-star hotel, but I still can’t wrap my head around it at a three-star hotel with no Wi-Fi. Finding another place wasn’t the issue. I strongly don’t recommend this hotel to international travelers, especially Africans. Trust me on this review.

I booked a one-night stay months ahead for my family of five. When we got there, the hotel was closed and nobody had let me know. I was left on the street with three kids. The owner or manager kept apologizing but didn’t offer replacement accommodation. Scandalous!
