A sociable hostel option near ADO Centro and Parque de las Papalas, which gets lively at night. The sturdy wooden bunks have a light, power, curtain, and a big locker. There's an ensuite bathroom, towels are provided, and the common areas and useful kitchen are good. Everything seems thought of.

The staff were lovely and even upgraded our room for free. They also took time to tell us what was nearby. We had a great stay, with amazing rooms, massive comfy beds, and a stunning shower.

We only stayed one night because our flight arrived late and we had a bus to Valladolid the next morning. The room wasn't very clean, and our private room was just off the common area, where people talked well past midnight. A gap under the door meant it blocked no sound at all. The mattress was so cheap and uncomfortable that we could feel the bed frame underneath. Moving it onto the floor made it a bit better. I wouldn't stay in Cancun otherwise; the place is a kip. In Valladolid we paid half as much and the accommodation was sooo much better. I'd usually tell backpackers to skip Cancun altogether, but if you have to stay overnight like we did, you might want to spend a bit more on somewhere nicer.

The backyard was a nice place to hang out, and Parque de las Palapas city park is nearby with places to eat. The staff were friendly, and both the hostel and dorm were clean. We booked five beds in one six-bed dorm but ended up split across two dorms. The AC only runs from 7 pm to 10 am, so resting in the afternoon was difficult. They also charged a heritage fee to help keep the city clean. I know plenty of cities manage that without charging tourists.
