Hotel Taxaha

The reception staff were friendly. Once we got inside, the rooms were fine: clean, with a large TV, an en-suite bathroom, a huge shower, and comfortable beds. The air conditioning worked well. There's a big car park too. From the road, the place looks like a building site and is completely unrecognizable, so we drove right past it.

There's a lot to like: clean, modern rooms, a comfortable bed, air conditioning, a quiet setting, friendly people, good food, room service, laundry washed for you at a wonderful price, and private, secure parking. The price is great, and the Wi-Fi was excellent for uploading pictures. The cable TV acts like the coax cable isn't plugged in properly, though. And there's no hot water! I know it's hot here, but I'd still been looking forward to at least some hot water.

The staff were great, friendly, and helpful, and things were generally clean and tidy. But the hotel is still new and being finished, with construction underway and some rooms incomplete. It's not the best option in Candelaria yet. We booked a room with a jacuzzi tub for one night. The tub took ages to fill because the water pressure was low. When we turned on the jets, black mold came flying out and soiled the water. At night the door rattled in the wind and kept disturbing our sleep because we thought someone was trying to get in. We had to put a bag in front of it to stop the noise. There was no safe, coffee maker, or mini fridge in the room, and we were only given two bath towels. A bath mat would help because the shower design leaves the whole bathroom floor wet. Better toiletries and some face cloths would be nice, too. The deck chairs were really uncomfortable. I'm sure the hotel will fill in the gaps as things progress. If you stay here, I'd suggest trying a really tasty meal about three minutes down the road, on the opposite side toward town. Cheap but delicious: 40 pesos for a filling breakfast for two. I believe it's called Carnitas Uruapan.

Very clean and nice, and the price for a family wasn't bad.
