We stayed overnight here after four days in Bacalar because we had an early flight back to Mexico City. The hotel interior was very clean, the staff were helpful, and breakfast was good. There are places to eat across the street and a large mall nearby. The area around it felt rather empty and dark, or at least poorly lit, and apart from the shopping center I didn't see anything interesting. Still, it was a good stay.

On my second stay, there still weren't any ice buckets. I asked at the front desk and ended up using a garbage can. They provide only two towels, with no hand towels or face cloths. Come on, you can do better.

It's a great, conveniently located place beside the mall, with lots of food and shopping options. But with the Marriott name, I'd expect hot water in the shower, and staff shouldn't knock on your door in the morning while you're sleeping.

The location is great, and this was my third stay. Check-in took forever this time. I arrived at 7 pm while they were checking in a group, so we waited. By about 8 there was still nothing, so we went to dinner. We came back at 10, and it still took them 20 minutes to check us in. I own a hotel, and 20 minutes is far too long for one room; they need to improve their check-in time. The room was fine and looked reasonably clean, but it had an odd smell from the cleaning product.
