River Side Hotel

The room was comfortable and clean, though rustic and a little small. There was still enough room to move around and keep our suitcases. The one-bedroom cost about 650 pesos. The A/C worked well, but it was a bit noisy and didn’t bother us. Staff were friendly, and everything felt very clean. The pool had some plant debris and could use a little cleaning. Flashing lights through the windows seemed like a terrible idea, but the curtains kept them from being much of a problem. The parking lot is tiny. I had some trouble with my Odyssey van, so it’s better suited to small cars. Good place, I recommend it, about an 8/10.

We gave up on the room after 15 minutes and moved to a much cheaper, clean, modern hotel just minutes away. This place doesn’t deserve even one star. The room was filthy and clearly hadn’t been cleaned for days, maybe weeks. In the heat, around 34C, the air conditioning couldn’t keep it comfortable. The TV was an old black-and-white set with such bad reception that none of the programs were watchable, and there was no internet. My advice is to skip it.

My family and I stayed one night and left very disappointed. The online pictures were misleading and didn’t match what was listed. We found mouse droppings on the beds and cockroaches, and the water never got warm enough for a shower. The staff were also very strange about the A/C and TV remotes. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Don’t waste your money.

The Sol suite is an apple luxurious suite, with a lovely wide view of the river, and the hotel also has a nice view of the sumidero canyon. Staff were understanding and service was adequate. The bathroom design is questionable and makes it troublesome to use. Room service was okay, but slow and not very professional.
