Frightening!
The staff are friendly and the place is nice, but the rooms need updating. They should replace the old TVs with plasma screens, even small 24-inch ones, and do a much better job cleaning. The room cleaner seems barely able to keep up, and the cleaning feels superficial. The linens and towels are very old and should be changed too. The location is so central that this could be a proper family hotel, not just somewhere to pass through. There’s plenty that could be improved to bring in more tourists and help people feel confident staying here. Years ago it was pleasant and family friendly. Then people started bringing prostitutes and making a scene. It needed saying! 😀 😀 Keep at it, things can improve.
The low prices are a plus, and the location is very convenient. The small underground parking lot has a gate that’s always locked, so you have to notify someone every time you want to leave. That’s a hassle if you’re coming and going a lot. The remodeled rooms look nice, but the mattresses are very hard and the air conditioning doesn’t work well. During our stays there’s been plenty of hallway noise and voices at night near reception, and marijuana smell seems common. On my last visit, someone knocked and offered me a “chain.” I didn’t open the door, but it made the lack of control over who enters the hotel stand out.
I slept well, and it was quiet outside. The heater in our room wasn’t working, but luckily it wasn’t cold that day. We had a room for two; the bed was hard, though I’m not complaining. The hotel is quiet, but the room itself was really dark, with hardly any natural light, so I had to switch on the light to find my way.
