Hotel Palacio del Sol was a Chihuahua hotel landmark, known for its architecture, its length of over 80 meters, and above all, the quality of its service. It had been run by several different management teams before finally closing in early 2019. Once it stopped operating, the owners began selling off its furnishings and equipment. It was an icon of Chihuahua's hotel industry for its architecture, infrastructure, and first-class service.

It used to be one of the most expensive and elegant hotels in Chihuahua, and artists such as Shakira and Luis Miguel stayed there. The hotel announced plans for a remodel and closed in 2019, then eventually stood abandoned. The owner said whether to sell it was a private matter. In 2022, it was confirmed that a medical company had bought it. They say it will have laboratories, X-ray facilities, a reception area, a nursery, and an ambulance.

It's closed now, but it used to be the best. Such a beautiful historic hotel going to waste is sad. It's a shame it closed with no hope of reopening, and they're even selling off the dog.
