Hotel Sicomoro

The room keys kept losing their programming every other day. Staff just shrugged and said it was normal and nothing could be done. On our last night, we got back late and found the room door wide open. When we asked about it, staff said maybe the chamber maid had left it that way. I wouldn’t stay here again. The gym they advertise stayed closed the whole time, there was no working ice machine, and the restaurant had very limited hours. They also advertise “free dessert,” but when we asked, they said they didn’t offer it, even though it’s printed on the restaurant’s front door. We asked twice to have a blinking lightbulb fixed, and it never was. Restaurant wait staff were apathetic and slow. Even when the restaurant was often empty, you had to line up outside to get in. One morning we came for early breakfast and they opened 15 minutes late. Worst hotel service we’ve experienced. Avoid this hotel if you can.

The front desk staff were nice, and I didn’t hear noise from the other rooms or hallway, so I managed to sleep. The bed was very uncomfortable, though, and the guard in the parking area was rude. There was poor lighting in the bathroom, and the hotel needs updating. It served its purpose, somehow.

The price really wasn’t worth it. The beds were as hard as the floor, there was no hot water, and mosquitoes got into the room because, for some odd reason, they leave the windows open in empty rooms. You also have to leave a deposit to get access to the TV.

This is an older hotel. The online description said the beds were very good, but I didn’t find that to be the case. The pillows weren’t good, the sheets weren’t fitted, and the bed covers were old.
