La Merced Hotel

Breakfast doesn’t start until 7:30, which is later than I’ve ever seen. Usually it’s at six, sometimes at seven, and when I got there five minutes early I couldn’t even get coffee. The front desk needs better training and customer service. At check-in, the clerk said I couldn’t register before three, our check-in time. They could’ve simply explained that the room would be ready in about 15 minutes. The night crew also talked very loudly. One night a guest had to tell them to shut up. No common sense.

We really liked the hotel and its location, and the rooms were nice. The night staff and receptionist were the best part, especially when they quickly helped sort out our problems. The room we’d reserved wasn’t available when I arrived, even though they’d confirmed it by phone. Once we got a room, the bathroom was dirty and there were no towels, so we made a complaint.

A nice little hotel near the centro, with friendly staff and a buffet breakfast. Really good, and I’d definitely come back.

It’s next to a park, right by downtown Colima, so getting out to shop is easy. The hotel is clean and nice, and the staff are polite, friendly, and happy to help with questions or anything you need. There’s no pool or huge lobby, but it has what you need for a relaxing stay and a good night’s sleep, at a great price.
