Coquenas del Valle

We booked at the last minute because the rooms and grounds looked really nice on Expedia. The property has a lot of potential, but it was a miss for us this trip. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms look appealing, and the owner and staff helped when the WiFi wasn’t working. Both the AC and heat worked really well. On the other hand, the smart lock codes seem predictable, so the room didn’t feel very secure. The bed was the hardest and most uncomfortable I’ve slept on in a long time. The pillows were a joke, super thin and flat once you lay on them. The linens smelled like cheap laundry detergent, and the bed squeaked. The floors weren’t clean when we arrived, with sand and other debris you could see and feel. The toilet seat was loose and swiveling, as if it had been that way for a while. There were no closets or clothing racks in the premium rooms.

The grounds at Coquenas are beautiful and peaceful, with carefully kept landscaping and common sitting areas to enjoy. There’s also plenty to explore around the property. We stayed in room #8 at the top of the hill. It was clean and cute, with coffee, air conditioning, hot water, WiFi, and a nice patio with lounge chairs. The owner was quick to help with extra towels and a modem when the WiFi signal was weak. The location was close to the wedding reception venue, restaurants, and wineries. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay and would likely return. I booked through the website, but system errors caused some initial trouble. I was charged a few times and they couldn’t find my reservation. After I sent repeated messages, the team called to apologize and said they had found it. When we arrived, we didn’t have check-in instructions, so we didn’t know how to enter the home. I contacted the owner, but he couldn’t respond because he was on a plane, as we learned later. We waited about 40 minutes. Luckily, the weather was perfect and we could sit in the common areas. There’s a small farm on the property with lots of animals. If you’re not a dog person, this might not be the place for you. I am, so I loved having the gentle, sweet dogs hang out with us on the patio. The roosters are very close and crow early in the morning, so if that bothers you, I’d suggest another place. A few things missing from the room would have made the stay top tier: an iron or steamer, a closet or rack for clothes, body wash in the shower, a suitcase rack, and a wine opener, since there were wine glasses. It was still a good stay, and we’d come back.

Comfortable beds, nice rooms and lodging, and the water quality was nice.

My wife and I spent two nights here. It was quiet, with lovely views and cozy rooms. Our room had a mini fridge and a K cup coffee maker, but no TV. It’s just right for a peaceful, romantic getaway.
