Hotel Presidente

We’ve stayed here several times over the years and have always felt comfortable and secure. The pool upstairs is a nice extra, and there’s a restaurant across the street with really good food. It’s also only a short distance from the tourist area. The rooms are very clean, the mattresses are comfortable, and the water pressure is decent. For such a fair price, that’s plenty. Staff are courteous, professional, and helpful, and the gated parking lot has a guard keeping an eye on your car, which is a plus.

Internet was the main issue for me. I needed it for work in the mornings and it kept cutting out. The place is clean and comfortable, and for the price it’s good value. It’s a no-frills hotel near the south end of First Street, close to downtown and the tourist areas. Traffic makes it a little noisy, but nothing major, and that’s common near downtown. I’ll give it another try before deciding whether to come back.

04/04/2025. The bed was broken and really uncomfortable. People were talking and having breakfast right outside my door from 4 to 5 am, and after they finally left, someone kept slamming doors. I’m guessing they were checking the rooms of the men who’d been eating there. I basically didn’t sleep after 4. The door handle was very loose, and there were signs of a past forced entry. I felt very uncomfortable and wouldn’t recommend it.

I don’t recommend this place because of how they handled my report of a missing item from my room. The person in charge took it as an offense and kept saying I was wrong instead of apologizing or trying to make things right. She said they check employees’ belongings before everyone leaves for the day to make sure there’s no theft. That makes me wonder if there’s been theft before, but I can’t say for sure. I wasn’t expecting to get my things back at that point, but they did nothing for me. The way I was treated made it seem like I was crazy and lying. Their people skills were horrible, and I ended up looking like the liar for bringing it up.
