Casa Murmullos

My friend and I stayed for four days while we were in town for a jiu jitsu tournament. The place was even better than the photos: spotless rooms and property, thoughtful interior design, and a comfortable first-floor room with two beds. The shared bathroom was cleaner than my one at home. The owner and staff were great and helped with whatever we needed. Casa Murullos is close to Centro, in a neighborhood that feels local rather than touristy. We could walk to a medium-sized grocery store, an authentic panaderia, tamales, and a high-end coffee shop. The subway station is about two blocks away, and getting around by public transport was easy. There were lots of young people around during the day. A block away, the main street closes on weekends for running and biking. We’re not partiers, but there seemed to be places to go nearby if that’s your thing. The neighbor’s dog barked until around midnight each night. That comes with a dense, local area that has easy access to transport and amenities. Otherwise it was quiet, with no music or club noise, and we were far enough from the main street to avoid traffic sounds. The hosts left earplugs and a fan, and we slept well. I spent days looking for a stay with this mix of location, value, quality, and manageable noise, and this was incredible value.
