Palpatio Hotel Boutique

We felt welcome throughout our four nights, and the staff were excellent. The hotel has a European feel, the food was good, and breakfast and the great coffee were particular favorites. We loved our stay and definitely recommend it.

Inside, the hotel felt like a lovely refuge. It’s beautiful, very quiet, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We picked a small room; it was just big enough and comfortably furnished. The coffee shop was perfect, with delicious cappuccinos and pastries every morning. We chose it for its good reviews and distance from Centro. The location was convenient and gave us the quiet we wanted, but the street felt disconcerting because it was so deserted at night. Walking back from the plaza at 9:30pm felt sketchy. We had no problems, but I’d have taken an Uber if it were any later. After visiting Mexico City, we were surprised to find so few people just a couple of blocks from all the activity. Next time, I think I’d stay in Americana or Tlaquepaque and Uber to the zocalo.

The building is well maintained and exceptionally clean, despite its age. It used to house nuns in the late 1800s before eventually becoming a hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and professional, and were undoubtedly the highlight. Compared with other hotels, this one has some shortfalls, but the service makes it an easy choice for my future travels. Kudos to Salma and Axl.

The historic city centre is within walking distance, and the staff are very friendly, helpful, and courteous. The place seems charming at first and has a nice history, but it didn't meet the luxury four-star experience we expected. The rooms are very basic, with no kettle, coffee machine, or fridge, and the floors seemed dusty and dirty. The towels and bedding were clean enough, but looked worn and didn't feel very fresh. There is no elevator, so you have to take the stairs to your room.
