Square Small Luxury Hotel - Nuevo Consulado

We arrived from our flight at 2 am, and I’d definitely come back. The room was clean, spacious, and uncluttered, with lots of bathroom lights that were great for getting ready. There’s a safe for personal things and an enclosed outdoor patio attached to the window. In the lobby they put out juice every morning, with glasses you can use and bring back if you want more later. The top floor has a small gym, breakfast area, pool, and sun deck. There’s also a restaurant and bar downstairs, though I never tried them. Food options nearby include a taco stand right behind the hotel, a park, and a bakery on the next street to the right. There’s also a great coffee shop/vegan spot to the right as you leave, just before the xoxo and across from the bakery and meat market. One warning: the fire extinguishers look like trash cans, so don’t put rubbish in them. Apologies.

The latte I ordered at breakfast tasted like regular coffee with warm milk, and the meal overall wasn’t great. I’d stayed here before, but the quality has clearly declined and I won’t be back. The room I got on the right side had a wall just outside the window and no natural light, so it felt like a cave. Maybe it would do if you only need a place to sleep, but I wouldn’t book it again. Parking was another issue. I have an SUV and was directed to level minus two, reached by a very narrow spiral ramp. The car didn’t fit properly, and I scratched and dented it. Nobody offered to help with my two large suitcases, which I’d expect from a hotel presenting itself as four-star. The bathroom shower leaked across the whole floor, leaving it messy and uncomfortable to use. There were no slippers, and reception said I’d have to wait until the next day to get them. The bathrobes were very worn and torn, with broken belt loops. That all felt poorly maintained.

A real gem, handy location with great restaurants nearby. The room was comfortable and quiet, and breakfast was good, served in the rooftop restaurant with a lovely city view.

Martell, the steakhouse inside Square Boutique Hotel, was a highlight. The steaks were cooked just right, the sides were elegant, and the wine selection was great. It had the same warm, polished atmosphere as the hotel. Although the hotel is small, it feels cozy and luxurious, and I felt at home as soon as I arrived. Valet parking was quick and made check-in easy. My room was spacious, with a large modern bathroom and an oversized shower. The bed was incredibly comfortable, with quality linens, pillows, and mattress. It was hard to get up in the morning! The room was spotless and service was top-notch. My stay at Square Boutique Hotel was unforgettable. Great for a business trip or a relaxing weekend, and I’d happily return.
