The Westin Guadalajara

There's no heating in any of the rooms, only cooling AC. Think about how you'll manage Guadalajara's 10.ºC (50. F) winter nights if you're considering this hotel. If you're fine with the cold, it may suit you. My room also had no fridge. I can't figure out how this hotel got four stars.

The restaurant food was good overall, and the restaurant staff were fantastic. That's the only reason I'm giving two stars. My room was small, the showers need serious mildew removal, and one evening there was no hot water. The hotel is convenient for the convention hall, but by far isn't the best in the area. The bigger issue was the door lock. Its screws were cut very short, barely hanging in by one thread, and both fell out when I gently wiggled the lock. I told the hotel and they said they'd fix it immediately. Since I had to leave soon and didn't want my room unsecured, I asked them to take care of it right away. When I came back at 2 pm, it still wasn't fixed. If they weren't going to repair it promptly, they should have moved me to another room. That evening, signs went up saying every room needed mandatory maintenance or a security inspection. I don't know whether that was related to my complaint. Traveling alone as a woman, the delay made me feel unsafe, and I was upset that the problem wasn't handled promptly or properly.

I had a junior suite with a really nice city view and room to myself. It was far better than what I've seen at other hotels, and I wish I'd tried this one sooner. The hotel is cozy and comfortable, and I'll book here more often when I'm in Guadalajara. The brunch buffet is the best I've seen. They make cantaritos when you ask, and it keeps going until they take the food away. One of the best hotels I've stayed in. I highly recommend it, enjoy.

That bed was unbelievably comfortable, both the mattress and pillows. I haven't slept that well at a hotel, not even at The Ritz or Mandarin Oriental! For a brand marketed as a “sports lifestyle” hotel, they really deliver on rest and recovery. The lobby was clean and stylish, and we got a warm welcome. Since a room was ready, they kindly let us check in early, which was a nice start to the weekend. They serviced the room daily, but didn't replenish the toiletries or tea, which was disappointing. The front desk staff also kept avoiding eye contact and never greeted us when we came in or left, so the atmosphere felt less welcoming than expected. There's no pool, so check ahead if that matters to you.
