Hotel Davimar

That old architecture deserves a second chance. With updated linens and curtains in a lighter style to suit the high ceilings and pale walls, this place could have a boutique feel. The hotel is being renovated and has real potential. It’s well located right on the main plaza, the air conditioning works well, and the restaurant food was good, though service was slow. The younger wait staff and the maid were lovely, but the front desk and one middle-aged waitress were rude. The waitress came across as racist, or at least rude, and acted like we had to earn their respect. I travel a lot and speak Spanish fluently, so it wasn’t an “ugly American” misunderstanding. The beds were hard, almost like sleeping on a box spring. During our three-night stay, I was tempted to buy a memory foam topper. I hope the owners add in-room coffee and washcloths. If I return to Guamuchil in a few years, I’d come back to see how the renovation has progressed.

They let us bring our dog, which was a real bonus, and parking was free, covered, and secure. The hotel is comfortable and felt safe, with easy access to shopping, events in the square, and the church. Our room had a full bed and a twin, plus a closet, small desk, TV, and AC. We also had an ironing board, washcloths, soap, shampoo, and a hairdryer. Rooms facing the main street get traffic noise, and sounds carry through the tiled hallways. Our neighbors were inconsiderate, so it got loud.

Right in downtown Guamuchil, with very comfortable rooms and great service. Our room had towels, an iron and ironing board, TV, Wi-Fi, and coffee.

Wi-Fi is another reason I like coming here. The hotel davimar has a restaurant I love, and the food was delicious at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
