Casa 14 Hotel & Café

We’d been here before without any problems, so this visit left us disappointed. The matcha wasn’t frothed properly, and the cream on the pastries was curdled, making them almost impossible to eat. We’d only taken a bite of the carrot cake and cinnamon roll, and the friendly staff said they’d take the desserts off the bill. Instead, they gave us just a 10% discount on the pastries we left uneaten, and didn’t replace them. We’d gone with friends for a hot matcha and desserts to share, and left with a bad taste in our mouths.

The location was fantastic, less than a 5-minute walk from the theater. It was close to everything but away from the crowds, so we could sleep peacefully at night. We rented the smallest room through Airbnb because the price was great, and honestly we only needed somewhere to sleep since we planned to be out sightseeing all day. ✨ The fan was tiny and didn’t really work, but that was fine during rainy season when it wasn’t hot. The bathroom was very small, and using the tiny sink inevitably made a mess, haha, but it wasn’t a big deal. The common areas were lovely, with books to pass the time. Board games would’ve been nice too. We’ll definitely use their services again.

The host was very friendly, and we had a good stay. The space is small but comfortable, the bed is comfortable too, though it makes a little noise, and the service was relatively good. The water pressure is excellent, but adjusting the temperature can be difficult. I’m giving it 3 stars because the bathroom smelled a bit musty and café customers can see into the room in the mornings, which cuts into privacy. Otherwise, everything was fine, though the spaces are a bit small. I would go back.

Clean and comfortable, with a good price and an excellent spot right in the city center.
