With theaters, churches, markets, good food, and town squares nearby, it was easy to explore Guanajuato on foot. The funicular is close too. Just note that the hotel sits above the road, so an Uber can't drop you right at the entrance. We had a standard quadruple room with plenty of space, outlets, lights, and a fan. It was clean, and there was hot water whenever we wanted it. The bathroom had a roomy shower and two mirrors, and the only awkward bit was that the stairs up to the top two beds were a little steep. Breakfast upstairs was light but enjoyable. It made for a comfortable, fun stay with plenty of local character.

Breakfast was a lovely way to meet the other guests. Between 9 and 10, everyone ate together around a big table in the kitchen, and it had a real family feel. Getting my luggage up all those stairs was a bit of a hassle, but I was glad I made the effort. The room was wonderful, with lots of space, a little balcony looking out over the street, a very comfortable bed, and a nice hot shower. One of my favorite places to stay in Mexico.

The shared spaces alone would make me want to stay here again. There’s a lovely terrace and balcony, plus a sofa swing. The hotel is in a great spot, and we felt very safe. The rooms are spacious, breakfast is delicious and filling, and the free water was a nice extra. The staff were so kind and helpful. When we needed it, they spoke Spanish slowly so we could follow along. The street outside gets pretty loud at night, which comes with the location and is outside the hotel's control, so bring earplugs if noise bothers you. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Guanajuato.

We stayed at Casa de Pita for three nights in August 2025. We liked the central spot in Guanajuato's historic district, the polite staff, and the colorful look of the property. After one sleepless night, though, we reached an agreement with the hotel for a full refund, which we appreciated. We won't return and would suggest looking at other accommodations. The room was very cramped for four people, especially with its two levels. There wasn't room to open more than one suitcase at a time. The steep side street can't be reached by car, so carrying luggage uphill in the summer heat was exhausting. In our ground-floor room there was no natural light, and it felt dark and gloomy. The bathroom window could be seen through from the stairs, and a roughly one-meter-wide window by the ground-floor toilet faced the street, which raised real privacy concerns. We found bedbugs when we arrived, and one person in our group reacted within an hour. There were also several hairs in the bed linens, which made us question the cleaning. The reception shuts at 8 PM, and there was no way to contact staff afterward, even through Booking.com, so evening problems are left to you. The colorful decor felt chaotic and dusty, and seemed to cover up poor upkeep. Several things in the room looked worn or broken, as shown in our photos.

Loved the rooftop spaces. Great location, slept well, and it had everything I needed.
