Hotel La Abadia Tradicional

We had a suite this past weekend and it was spacious and very clean. The staff were attentive, and I loved the balcony view. It felt like a great location, close to the central heart of Guuanajuato with plenty to do nearby.

My stay itself was great, but I witnessed a front desk employee having a heated argument with a coworker in front of guests. She spoke to her disrespectfully and told her she should quit and sell lemonade or something. It came across as workplace power abuse, and the staff didn't seem concerned that guests could hear. It was uncomfortable and embarrassing to see. As a manager, I would've dismissed both of them on the spot and made sure the team was trained to act professionally in front of clients. Arrogance and abuse of power have no place at work.

We stayed for one night before heading to San Miguel the next day. The rooms were clean and sanitary, and I'd stay at this hotel again. Breakfast was available at the hotel for an extra charge.

Travelers should know that checkout seemed to be handled poorly, and some of our personal belongings went missing. I stayed two nights. On the last day, I went to get my vehicle from the hotel's off-site parking lot, although its online listing says parking is on-site. When I returned, housekeeping was cleaning our room as if we'd checked out. Our bags were packed, but items were missing. I told the front desk attendant and manager they shouldn't have gone into the room while we were still there, and reported the missing things. Staff insisted I'd packed them and should look again, but didn't explain why the room was being cleared before checkout. I left my contact details so they could return my property if it was “found” again. The rooms are dark, and without circulation fans in the bathrooms they get very humid and smelly.
