Holiday Inn Express Guaymas

The breakfast buffet was better than average for a Holiday Inn, and the location is good. The rooms are on the small side and there’s no refrigerator or microwave. My biggest issue was the weak shower pressure, which made my showers take twice as long. I’m not sure that saves them any water in the end. The pool looked foggy, though it was supposedly clean.

The location was a real plus, close to the beach, freeway, and restaurants. The bedrooms were generally clean, but if you stay more than three nights, they won’t clean your room until the third night. There’s no laundry facility or laundry service, which was a problem for our beach vacation since we came back with a lot of wet clothes. Pool use required reservations because of COVID, which was understandable, but getting towels was a struggle. Since they knew how many guests would arrive for each booking time, I don’t understand why towels weren’t ready. We had to walk wet from the pool to reception to get them. They wouldn’t bring towels to the pool, and we couldn’t use the room towels because they weren’t changed. The pool towels also weren’t available for showers. I’d booked a room for four adults and one child. The website said it could fit four adults and three children, but there were only two queen beds. When we asked for a folding bed for the child, they said they didn’t use those. I didn’t love the stay, but I didn’t hate it either. I’m just not sure I’d come back.

The place has a lovely atmosphere and is very clean and modern, in a great area. I often stay here with my family and we love it. The receptionist is really friendly and helpful. I needed some important documents printed, and they went out of their way to help me get it done. They were very kind and accommodated my situation.

The room advertised as wheelchair accessible didn’t have a roll-in shower, which made bathing my quadriplegic son extremely difficult. He’s 6'1 and weighs 150 lbs, so anyone with special needs should be aware. I loved the breakfasts, and most of the staff were helpful and spoke English. All in all, we had a good experience.
