City Express by Marriott Nogales

The rooms were clean, to their credit, but I wouldn’t stay here again. I paid over $100 USD in December 2025 for a very bare-bones, small room with a small TV. The sixth-floor hallway carpet was filthy and had large holes, one of the two elevators was out, and the hallways and rooms smelled bad. The temperature controls were frustrating too: either the heat or the air conditioning was on, so if the weather warmed up during your stay, you couldn’t switch to cooling. I don’t know how this hotel keeps the Marriott name.

The rooms and room service were great, and it’s a nice place to stay. Breakfast wasn’t the best, though. The street outside was being paved, so it was dusty most of the time.

I canceled my reservation as soon as I arrived. The website says service dogs are accepted, but the staff still demanded paperwork to prove my dog was a service dog. That was frustrating and unnecessary. I also overheard staff talking about me negatively, which felt disrespectful and unprofessional. After that experience, I won’t come back or recommend the hotel.

Our room was tiny, though usable, and the hotel was reasonably clean with very few amenities. The bigger problem was check-in: staff aggressively told us our 12-year-old couldn’t stay in the room with us and pushed us to pay for a second room, even though the website lists a maximum of eight guests per room. For one of the more expensive hotels in Nogales, that was really disappointing, especially for a Marriott.
