I was there with my wife and 9-month-old son, and we had a great trip. The location isn't in the town center, as anyone can see from a map, and that's a plus. It's peaceful. The people who worry about having no phone service on a tropical island seem odd to me. We had one power cut during our five-night stay, around 10pm. There's not much they can do about bugs when the place is so close to the beach. Lucia at the concierge desk was courteous and helpful, and Manuel was lovely throughout. If you're thinking of booking, don't let the other review put you off.

Manuel lives downstairs and was very kind, making sure we were comfortable. The elevated house is beautiful, with a small rooftop pool and a sea view. Punta Coco beach is only minutes away, and the nearby water is turquoise, with a luminous-looking beach. It's peaceful, but very isolated. The location was too remote for us, and the mosquitoes were awful, especially in the afternoon. There were frequent, unexpected power cuts that plunged the whole area into darkness, which was unnerving. There's no AT&T coverage, and apparently no 3G across the island. After rain, walking or biking is impossible because of the mud. A taxi to the center costs $300 to $400 for the 10-minute drive. Otherwise, it seems possible to walk along the beach in about 30 minutes, but expect heat and mosquitoes. The house deserves five stars, but I gave two because of the isolation, mosquitoes, regular power outages, and lack of network coverage.
