The tents were pretty comfortable, even without a proper mattress, and each had plenty of room, sockets, a proper lamp, and a strong fan that kept things cool. There are clean toilets and showers, though no hot water, which was fine in the daytime heat. The whole small camp is set up nicely, with clotheslines, somewhere to wash clothes, a big barbecue, hammocks, and tables and benches for meeting people. There’s free water for cooking and refilling bottles, little lockers for dry food, room in the fridge, and a larger locker for bags and personal things. The shared area was so nice that I spent my whole checkout day on the couch while waiting for my evening ferry. I’d booked a place by the beach, so leaving was sad, but I had a really nice time here. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped, better than any restaurant kitchen I’ve seen. Volunteers were friendly and worked hard to keep everything clean and the tents ready. When I was sick, they kept asking if I needed anything. It’s on a super quiet street, about 10 minutes from the main square and Chedraui supermarket, and 5 minutes from the beach, 15 from the ferry. There’s a little shop outside with basic fruit and things like eggs, repellent, cola, and frozen fish, all at not-too-bad prices. Raccoons run around at night. They weren’t noisy or annoying, just a little scary or cute if you’re not used to seeing them. The cheapest, most chilled option on the island!

I liked it enough to add three nights and make my stay a full week. The tent was great for sleeping, with a fan, light, plug socket, and mosquito net. It was peaceful, too. The hostel staff and volunteers are all really kind and work hard to keep everything clean. I’d definitely recommend staying here in Holbox.

We had a great couple of nights here at the end of March 2024. They welcomed us with a glass of cold water, which was such a treat. I’d worried that the tent might get too hot, but the fan was more than enough, and the tent was comfortable. The campsite has a lovely jungle feel with palm trees all around. We liked the hammocks in the chill-out area, and the large kitchen let several people cook at once. The bathrooms were always very clean.

The social space has a great vibe and makes it easy for people to connect. The tents are comfortable and well equipped, with plenty of toilets and showers. Damien (owner) was accommodating and really helpful with our walk-in bookings and recommendations. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Everything was kept really clean, and the staff took good care of our belongings, so it felt very secure. The place looks lovely, too, and you can use the bathrooms, hammocks, tables, and kitchen as if you lived there. The tents were so comfy that I never thought camping could be like that. Staff are super friendly, and there’s a nice social atmosphere where you can meet lots of people. It’s a bit farther from the center than some places, but the island center is small, so it wasn’t a problem.
