Hotel Bahia Chac Chi

We had our dates wrong and realized on arrival that the reservation was for a few days later. We messaged the hotel on WhatsApp, and they changed the booking for free. We were very grateful they saved us from an expensive mistake. The hotel is charming, and the staff are kind and friendly. Our room was simple but spacious, with a big comfortable bed and a beautiful port-side view of the sea. We could watch the sun set over Cancun. For the price, it’s a great choice.

Our room is clean and comfortable, and the service has been so accommodating and kind. After staying at Westin Lagunamar just before Bahia Chac Chi, the difference in the experience has been great. Housekeeping is very thorough, and we’d happily stay here again. One small suggestion: the hallway window curtains could be less see-through for a bit more privacy.

The rooms are clean, but that’s about where the good parts end. The website says there’s a free cooked breakfast, but they don’t serve breakfast. The room has just one chair, so two people have to sit on the bed. There’s a multi-head shower, but the water pressure is too weak to make use of the extra sprays. They provide only two old towels and one hand towel, and there are no washcloths anywhere in the hotel. It’s a block from the ferry on the main road, so noise starts early and carries on late. It’s easy to get a cab or walk to Hildalgo street, but this was a serious mistake for us. There are plenty of other options for a more relaxing stay, and I have a hard time believing all the five-star reviews are legitimate.

We had a confirmed ocean-view booking for New Year’s Eve to celebrate the end of 2025, but at check-in we were told the hotel was overbooked and were moved to a room with no view. We missed the last sunset of 2025 while dealing with management, and the downgrade ruined our trip. The rooms are badly outdated and don’t match the price or the online photos. The high ratings seem misleading to me, and I suspect reviews are being bought to hide the poor service and deteriorating facilities. This place felt like a scam. Save your money and holiday and stay somewhere else.
