If you're fine with a rustic place, you might be okay here, but for the price it feels worn down, like an old Vegas hotel. The pool area needs a major overhaul, really the whole pool. Compare the cost with more updated places nearby that offer stronger service before booking.

We've made this our weekend escape for many years. It's a peaceful spot with lovely grounds and a beautiful pool, plus gorgeous views of Lake Chapala and the mountains. The hotel is family-owned and run, with bungalow-style rooms in different sizes for couples or families. There's also a small family-run restaurant with a limited but delicious menu. A great place to unwind.

The hotel's staff seem biased toward foreigners. When I asked an employee named Jesus to turn the music down, he said he was in his own country and that I should go back to the United States if I wanted quieter music. I wonder whether the hotel administration deliberately takes this position.

The pool water was very cold, and the staff seemed to spend their time resting in the service room. Nobody responded to my request about the cold water in my room, and the room key didn't work. There was no one serving in the restaurant either, so after waiting an hour I went out to find food. A very disappointing stay.
