Hacienda Paraiso de La Paz

Renting a car is a good idea, since this property wasn’t as accessible to town as we’d expected. We got to know a few taxi drivers who were a great help. The property is a true beauty and a great find. The hosts were lovely and worked to make our La Paz stay a great experience. Breakfast and coffee were delicious.

The owners are wonderful and can help set up tours with reputable groups. It’s a peaceful hotel in a quiet neighborhood, about a mile from malecon. The ambience was lovely, and the free breakfast was the best two meals of my stay in la paz.

The courtyard is a central feature of Hacienda Paraiso, clean and peaceful, and quiet enough that we could hear birds chirping. It made the place relaxing day and night. We also appreciated the secure, convenient parking garage, with easy access from the courtyard. We felt our things in the car were accessible but safe. My wife and I spent five nights here recently. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, with a hot shower and comfortable bed. Richard and Gloria bring a lot of personality to the Hacienda. They’re informed and helpful, and just pleasant to talk to. We enjoyed talking with them over breakfast every day and looked forward to it. Getting to know local people is one of the most enriching parts of travel for us, and they made that easy. We’re already looking forward to our next trip and know where we’ll stay.

We only stayed one night because I got the dates wrong, and I wish we could have stayed for the whole vacation. Hacienda Paraiso truly feels like paradise, a peaceful oasis in la Paz that Gloria and Richard care for with a lot of love. The expansive grounds are beautifully maintained, with colorful traditional Mexican decor. After an outing, you can cool off in the pool or relax in a palm-shaded hammock. The hosts are gracious and warm, and know the area well. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. Stumbling across this gem was serendipitous. It’s a destination in its own right.
