ALT Urbana

The call on our second night was what made us leave. Around 11 p.m., while we were relaxing in our room, a man called my cell from a León number, used my full name, and said he was at the front desk of ALT Urbana. He claimed there was a car with illegal items outside and that police would come knock on our door. In León, only the hotel had both my full name and number. Each room also has an outside light that turns on when someone is staying there, which didn’t feel safe. We checked out a day early and moved to another hotel. When I asked for a refund for the unused night because we no longer felt safe, they refused. At checkout, the desk clerk still tried to charge my card for “the extra night,” even though we’d paid through Expedia and were leaving early. I showed the Expedia receipt, and she then saw in their system that everything was paid. This was the second time staff had tried to charge us after payment: at check-in, an employee insisted my card needed to be charged for the room, until I showed the receipt and she found the payment in the system. The pool and jacuzzi were closed the whole time we were there, supposedly for chemicals and cleaning; they stayed covered and unusable. We had booked July 14-17 but stayed July 14-16. The advertised amenities weren’t available, we were given reason to worry about our safety and how our personal information was being used, and staff tried to collect payment twice despite Expedia having already been paid. I can’t recommend this hotel. DO NOT STAY HERE!

I’d come back to León for the first time in 32 years, and finding this hotel on Expedia seemed promising from the photos. It turned out to be a big letdown. Expedia didn’t say anything about it being adults-only when I booked. I only found that out later, looking for more pictures on the hotel website, so I canceled right away. They still haven’t given me any money back, not even part of it.
