Hotel Oasis

The pool, grounds, location, and buffet breakfast were all great, while the rooms were just okay. We waited nearly 40 minutes past check-in for the room, about an hour total: we arrived at 2:40 and couldn't get in until 3:40. The pool and Jacuzzi were both slightly heated and about the same temperature. It was a good stay, but I wouldn't return. Four stars.

You can borrow kayaks or paddle boards to explore the shallow bay, and the hotel sits on a wide stretch of beach. The rooms are basic but clean, with the essentials, though there aren't refrigerators. The breakfast buffet alone would bring me back: loads of hot dishes, fruit, yogurt, juice, and hot coffee, more than you'd expect. The wait staff were friendly and attentive too. Highly recommend!

I came in expecting to love this place, but the check-in and room situation was a mess. I arrived at 1:30 p.m. and expected the room not to be ready until 3. I took the dogs to the beach, where a pack of dogs from the hotel ran through and attacked them. At 3, I was told the room needed another half hour. The Oasis restaurant gave me a good snack and great service, but when I checked again at 4, staff seemed disorganized and didn't know whether the room was ready. I finally got in at 4:30. The room was basic, with no small fridge, an unflushed toilet, and food stains beside the bed. At 8 that night, I learned my husband's flight to La Paz was delayed and asked the desk for another night. Two men on bikes cut in while I was speaking with the front desk. They booked them before finishing my reservation or helping a family with kids who'd arrived first. I was told my room wasn't available, but could upgrade to an oceanfront room. I packed up in the morning and paid. It was New Year's, so the street music was extremely loud all night, as expected. After driving to LaPaz to pick up my husband and returning the next day, staff said there was a problem with the new booking and put us back in my old room. More people came in while the employee was speaking to me, and she began booking them. I waited 20 minutes for our key and got no explanation about what happened or a refund. The room difference was $200 USD. There were grey bugs everywhere, and the next morning my husband found mold on the old coffee grounds that hadn't been changed. The location is beautiful and the restaurant staff are great. That's about all I can say. I'm a little disappointed.

We spent six nights at Hotel Oasis and hope to visit again. The rooms were lovely, maintained, and stocked with water and clean towels. You can choose whether to have the room cleaned. The buffet breakfast was the best, and both the pool area and dining area right on the beach were very nice and well kept. Staff were pleasant, and the front desk could help with anything we needed. The boardwalk, town center, tours, supermarket, and plenty of places to eat were all within walking distance. We came in February for the Gray Whale Migration at San Ignaceo Lagoon, then stayed at the Oasis in Loreto.
