Hotel Costa Brava

The hotel echoes so much that you can hear every conversation in the lobby from your room. The pool is there, but screaming kids made it less appealing. I left with plenty of flea bites, or possibly bed bug bites. The white towels replaced on day two all had dark spots, and the shower head felt like it was scraping razors across my back. At least the water was hot. The location was good, but everything else was subpar. I wouldn't stay again.

It's fine for a night. There's an elevator, but it has no light. The rooms have TVs and AC, though in my room the remote didn't work. The TVs aren't smart, so you're limited to cable programming.

We arrived around 11 p.m. on January 13, 2023, with a reservation my friend had made through a booking website. Although we had a confirmation number, the woman at the front desk said they didn't take bookings that way. She was rude and told us to wait 30 minutes or leave. Since it was late, my friend and I waited. After half an hour I asked if she was going to give us a room, but she wouldn't talk to me and went back to her business, then told us to keep waiting. Nearly an hour in, I said loudly that I would post about the poor customer treatment. Once she heard me, she called me over and said a room was available. She gave us room #106. It was nasty and smelled strongly, with old, torn beds and linens. I'm pretty sure the door wouldn't lock, but we had no other option and took it. The vehicle gate was shut, so we couldn't get our car out until morning. I'm not sure if that's standard in manzanillos policies. The staff treated us tourists poorly, and I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. The website pictures are false advertising, and I was very disappointed. I wish whoever manages the property would talk to that rude, inexperienced short-haired woman. I don't know her name, but they should be able to identify her from the date and time if they have cameras.

The pictures made it seem like a lovely place, but the reality was completely different. Getting up the steep entrance hill was a struggle, and the room was awful. The bedspread was dirty, the kitchen was coming apart, and the fridge was rusty. Just terrible 😖
