Staybridge Suites Silao

The room was spacious, had an openable window, and came with a kitchen equipped with a fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, and three sets of plates and utensils. There was a sturdy ironing board and a decent iron too. Other useful features included hot water, cold AC, a pool, a shuttle, breakfast choices, complimentary weekday social-hour dinner, several free washers and dryers, a BBQ grill, and a 24/7 OXXO around the corner. Staff were friendly and professional, and the hotel is pet friendly. There were quite a few problems. The shower temperature swung from very hot to cold, the bathroom sink drained slowly, and the door card reader malfunctioned. At check-in, there were dirty plates in the dishwasher, and some silverware, hangers, and plates were missing. Only four hangers were supplied. Towels were worn, the laundry room and machines needed cleaning, and housekeeping might not get to the room before 4 pm or clean the stovetop. Hallways smelled like food, possibly because the stove carbon filters need replacing. The elevators were tiny and slow, sometimes adding five minutes, and the gym had only a few dumbbells and treadmills. There was no ice machine. The grill cost US$10 to use. Dogs were allowed on the lobby sofas and furniture, leaving hair behind; dog beds in the lobby would help. There could be loud weekday pool parties after 10 pm, and the front desk called rooms after 10 pm. I'd suggest speeding up the elevators, adding a small dining table in rooms, stopping loud music after 10 pm, and having the front desk avoid calls after 8 pm except for emergencies. A checklist could help make sure rooms are ready for the next guest. Overall, I'd rate it 3.5 stars.
