Costa De Oro Beach Hotel

Thieves! I reserved two rooms through Expedia and asked for accommodations with two dogs. The hotel messaged me through Expedia soon after to say they couldn't take the dogs. I contacted Expedia, but they couldn't change the booking, so cancellation was the only option. My credit card was still charged for both rooms. Expedia says it's the hotel's fault because of its no-cancellation policy, even though the hotel had originally said it would take us with the dogs. Rateros!

The food at Hotel Costa de Oro was delicious, with plenty of flavor and lovely preparation from breakfast through dinner. The staff were kind, attentive, and always willing to help, and I really enjoyed the activities, there was always something fun to do. I had an amazing stay and can't wait to return. I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mazatlán.

We just stopped in to pick up friends who stay here often. It seems like a great place for big groups traveling together.

The beachside location is prime, and the pool and grounds are beautiful. The rooms were a completely different story: outdated, deteriorating, dirty, and clearly in need of serious maintenance. They don't match the exterior or what the website promises. Our toilet ran loudly all night, and I couldn't get any rest. Maintenance came twice but couldn't fix it. There was visible mold in several places, which made breathing difficult because I have asthma. I needed my inhaler multiple times that night. The bathroom door also jammed and locked us inside. We struggled for several minutes to get out, which was terrifying. When I called the front desk, they weren't accommodating and said they wouldn't move us until the next morning. I decided to leave early, but they flat-out refused a refund or any compensation. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless subpar rooms and zero customer service are acceptable to you. It feels like they're focused on appearances instead of the quality of a guest's stay. Google won't let me upload videos of the running toilet, but you can imagine how loud and annoying it was.
