City Express Junior by Marriott Merida Altabrisa

Wendy in the kitchen made breakfast a joy each morning. She was so attentive, and her smile made us feel at home. Thanks to Wendy and the team. My partner and I were there for a week on a work trip, and the Junior is a basic but clean hotel with friendly staff who were there to help.

The bar next door played loud music until 1 a.m. during our stay, which was annoying. My room was small for two, and the air conditioning was loud but didn't cool it down properly. I asked to move to a room with working AC on the other side, away from the bar, but was told the hotel was fully booked. I didn't think it was, but okay. The breakfast you serve yourself was all right, though everything came on plastic dishes. It's also about a half-hour drive to the city centre. At checkout, no one asked how our stay had been, which I'm used to since I work for Marriott too. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

I booked two rooms, and cleanliness was a real problem. One bed had hair in it, and the pillows in the other room smelled like they'd been soaked in saliva. The parking lot was nice, and the front desk staff spoke both English and Spanish, so those are the two stars.

I wouldn't stay here again. I asked for a quiet room and got one right in front of a noisy bar. There wasn't a towel, so I had to dry myself with the sheets, and the coffee had a strange chemical taste.
