Don't waste your time or money here. The hostel was mediocre at best and filthy, with a dead scorpion under the beds, a broken sink, questionable toilets, and a pool we couldn't use. The price was exorbitant. We also sent our laundry to their laundry service and never got it back, and they even asked us to pay a "day pass" to use the Wi-Fi. I strongly advise against staying here.

The beds were comfortable and the design cute during my couple of nights there. But the staff were all full of micro-aggressions, and one worker was particularly rude. Her mean attitude upset and insulted my friend and me.

The location was great, right by the bus station and main street, and we really enjoyed our five days at guaya hostel with friends. The staff are lovely, and I'd definitely recommend their breakfast. If I come back to Merida, I'll absolutely choose this hostel again!❤️

I planned to stay one night and ended up staying five, very comfortably. This family-owned and operated hostel is cozy and surprisingly quiet, right near the central ADO bus station. The owners are incredibly kind and caring. Santiago, the male owner, shares great recommendations for Merida while making breakfast. Sarah, his wife, gets you checked in, shows you around, makes you laugh, and has you feeling at home and part of the family almost immediately. Even their dog, Coco, will fall asleep on your lap like you belong there. Welcome home! Here you will be.

The location is excellent, about a 10 min walk from the cathedral and centro histórico, and right around the corner from the bus station for trips to different destinations around the peninsula. We stayed in the private room upstairs on the second floor, with 2 beds and its own bathroom. It was clean, the shower had ear water, and we had no issues. Breakfast is included for everyone, with waffles, eggs, and fruit. Santiago is very serviceable and knows Merida well. He can give great tips on where to go and how to plan your days.
