I can't think of many places I've stayed that I fell for as much as this magical one. I had a late night swim under the stars, with flower petals falling around the pool, and for a moment forgot I was in the middle of Mireda " Centro ", just a few blocks from everything. Casa Mexilio is beautiful, spacious, historic, and full of interesting antiques and artifacts. The property is easy to find and very well cared for. It has comfortable accommodations, two rooftop terraces, and real character. Roger, Richard, and Jorge have made something special here, and they're gracious hosts. It's great value, too.

The breakfast was adequate, and so was everything else, but nothing stood out. Roger and George clearly once put a lot of care into this beautiful place, and the antiques in each room still show that love. These days, though, it feels neglected: the floors are dirty, lights are burnt out, and furniture is rusted. The pool could have been a nice retreat, but it was dark and overgrown, with uneven stones around it that need a good cleaning. The city noise has also changed, and a nightclub just a block away now overwhelms what used to be a quiet escape.

We chose the Penthouse and enjoyed having its own patio and rooftop porch. The place has plenty of charm, with antique objects arranged throughout, and it's a distinctive choice if you don't want something mainstream. It was economical for us, especially after Tulum, and only a five-minute walk from the main plaza. No regrets about spending a couple of nights at Casa Mexilio.

The rooms are spacious and beautiful, and the staff are friendly and attentive. This colonial house is decorated to suit its history, making for a distinctive experience that feels like stepping back in time. It's in a great spot, just around the corner from iconic Santiago Park.

Casa Mexilio has been offering excellent service for almost 50 years. A pioneer of what people now call boutique hotels in Mérida, it's well known among foreigners with demanding tastes from many countries.
