We could walk to the centre, and there were also plenty of little people-carrier minibuses around. The ground-floor bedroom was lovely and roomy, with its own terrace looking over the garden and pool. Breakfast was simple, just help-yourself coffee and biscuits, but that was perfect for me. The staff were so friendly, as was the owner's family who live there. A young university student who cleans the rooms gave me amazing suggestions for stylish places to eat. I can't remember his name, sadly. One nearby spot was a French-run BIO Gastro with an outdoor terrace and exquisite murals; the other was a very chic bar on a top terrace in the centre with great views. Thanks so much. The staff were friendly enough, though only a few of the younger men spoke okay English. The hotel is about a half-hour walk from downtown Merida, with no restaurants or grocery stores nearby, so eating out means walking that distance or taking a taxi each day. It’s a family-run B&B-style place with six rooms. My family ended up in the one room in the middle of the building, while the other five look onto a small, pretty garden. Ours got very little natural light or airflow. With the window bringing in no fresh air, we felt suffocated unless the AC was running. There was also a refrigerator right in front of the door, as shown in the picture. The hotel was just okay, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

The lobby looks nice, but the hotel isn't that close to downtown. The police station is right across the street.
