Hostal Rosa Mexicano - Hostel

The owner was so welcoming and helpful, and told us a lot about life in Mexico. They said the building used to be a regular house before it was renovated into a hostel/Airbnb. With its big, well-equipped kitchen, lovely plant-filled terrace, and lots of space and details, it felt like the most authentic hostel of our vacation. It was super clean, and we felt part of Yucatan.

There was hardly anyone around during the few days I stayed here while travelling through Merida. The only person I saw was a girl staying long term, not an employee. I even had to rummage through the hostel cupboards to find a towel because there was never anyone at the desk. The location felt a bit odd and fairly desolate. It is a nice, comfortable place, though.

The common areas are beautiful places to relax and read a book, and the staff are friendly. Great experience, definitely recommend.

There are several buses right outside, and the place is close to a grocery store, a large Walmart, and a laundromat. Paseo de Montejo, the city's main avenue, is just a five-minute walk away. The rooms are spacious, and the common areas are comfortable, welcoming, and well equipped. The owner is friendly and available if you have questions or need anything.
