The central location and price looked good when I checked this hotel for our travel group, but then things went downhill. The rooms had no windows, only one facing the corridor, and shafts connect many of the rooms, so we could hear other rooms chatting as well as the corridor noise. The towels were quite dirty, and there was no hair dryer. Customer service was nonexistent. Breakfast is served outside at a nearby bar. I think there are much better options.

Friendly, welcoming staff and an easy walk to Mérida's sights, restaurants, and markets made this a decent base for us. The location is a real highlight, and my room was clean, with crisp, fresh sheets and a genuinely comfortable bed. For basic cleanliness and a good night's rest, the Hotel Santa Lucía did well. The building looked more worn in person than the owner's polished photos suggest. We spotted small areas that seemed neglected, including little holes and cracks in the walls and broken insect screens on the windows. There was also a noticeable chemical smell in the bathroom at first, possibly from a strong cleaning product. It's an okay to good hotel for someone watching their budget and wanting a clean, comfortable bed in a great spot. It meets basic standards, but don't expect it to look as pristine as the marketing pictures. If you can overlook a few signs of age, it's a solid place to explore the city from.

A great little budget hotel, fairly quiet and with no road traffic. Lovely spot for restaurants and parques.

The room had a roach right in the middle when I checked in, and the AC wasn't working. The lobby boy helped fix the AC, but when I told him I'd killed and disposed of the roach on check-in night, I expected more than for him to just stare at me. The bathroom smelled of sewers too. The staff were polite, but the hotel photos don't match the reality, and this isn't really a place to drop in and relax, in my opinion. Parking was supposed to be included, but the lot charges extra and that was never mentioned. The parking covers the night, then before 8am you have to move to another lot for the morning.

The rooms were clean, and the hotel was affordable. It’s also very close to some great places.
