Suite Studio Serviced Apartments

The couple who manage this very nice flat were great. We chatted with the husband, who suggested several places to see in Yucatán, along with a few to avoid. The internet worked really well. It’s a little outside downtown, but an Uber gets you into town in under 10 mins for about £3.

One of my best stays in Mexico, and I think you’ll feel the same. It was spacious and very clean, with a kitchen, and the hosts were friendly. The tricky bit is getting in. In the attached picture, the left door in the black iron gate pulls open, but takes a little strength. It’s best to arrange your check-in by whatsapp or e-mail so it goes smoothly, even though the hosts live in the apartment too.

The owner was really nice and helpful, and the place itself is clean and tidy. There’s a small pool, though there are lots of mosquitos outside. Nice bonus: there’s netflix. It’s a 20 min walk to the center.

At first I liked the furnished room and thought everything was fine. Then, when I was trying to sleep, I heard something moving around. I turned on the light and found a huge cockroach about to crawl onto the bed. After getting rid of it, I noticed small tick-like bugs in the bathroom, apparently coming out when nobody was there. I looked more closely at the walls and found a spider on me, with cobwebs and spiders in every corner. It was 2:02am, and I had to get up for work. I couldn’t sleep, worried a bug might crawl on me or my pregnant girlfriend while we were asleep. The furniture was okay and the electrical outlets were modern. Things seemed nice at first, though not the best, until the bug problem became obvious. Management could address it with better cleaning and maintenance and pest control. I feel I paid too much for this, especially compared with other hotels in the area.
