The location is great, and it seems to cater more to local and low-budget travelers. We chose it because of the reviews and location, and were greeted nicely on arrival. We were told to call the number on the wall if Alfredo wasn't around. But I think we could have got past most of what happened if not for the lack of hot water and being locked out. There was no hot water, even though both the shower and sink had hot and cold taps. After the first night, when we were locked out, we called the number on the wall. A woman in Cancun who only spoke Spanish answered. My wife speaks a little Spanish but could barely understand her. The next morning I told Alfredo what happened. He said it shouldn't have, and it was probably his Aunt. He gave us blankets then too, since there hadn't been any on the beds. Other problems piled up. The shower tap leaked constantly. The Wi-Fi in our room didn't work, and the other network had such a weak signal our laptops couldn't get a proper connection. Around 5:00 am, loud music for a marathon woke us and made sleep impossible. That's when we found there was no water. Alfredo was nowhere to be found, and people tried telling his Aunt, who only speaks Spanish, but she didn't know what to do. We were locked out again that night. The only other light was a small lamp with a broken bulb, and the ceiling fan didn't work. If hot water matters to you, you'll need to look elsewhere.

It's family owned and run, and everyone was very friendly. A pleasant stay.

A beautiful place for a longer stay, with a lovely view, and it's not too expensive.

Merida is a great place to visit, and this was a lovely spot to stay while you’re there.
