Óntico Urban Design Hotel

The air conditioning quit on day three, and our “upgrade” meant packing everything up for a smaller room where my feet hung off the end of the bed. They offered no compensation. I definitely wouldn’t stay again. The windows look straight at a wall, and the pool is at the sister hotel. The lighting is awful, breakfast is eggs only, and there are plugs on just one side of the bed.

The room was clean, at least, and I appreciate that. But I can’t believe I paid 5k mxn for this. The pictures don’t match reality, and the place feels like a motel. For the money, it should cost half. We should have checked the Google reviews before booking through Booking, where the rating is higher for some reason. The shower water kept changing temperature every 10 seconds, from warm to cold to hot and back again. We asked them to fix it, but got no solution or communication. The young women at reception only seemed to know the basics and smile, which made the whole thing feel like a scam, a rip-off. This is nowhere near a four-star hotel, more like a two-star. Stay somewhere else.

The beds were comfortable and the hotel is in a good spot, but breakfast was a real disappointment. It didn’t look anything like the website: just a cheese omelet, one piece of toast, and a little bean paste. Our window faced a wall only 20 cm away. I didn’t even know they had rooms like that to avoid. There was the same fluff in the bathroom from the first day to the last. The staff didn’t speak English at all, though in Mexico that doesn’t surprise me anymore. There’s parking at the hotel, but parking along the road in front is okay too, only along the yellow curb.

The short walk to the plaza was easy, and the place felt safe and clean. We had wifi and AC, too. The staff made our stay memorable from the start. Breakfast was delicious every morning, so I recommend it. Thanks to everyone who looked after us.
